Eats: Best iced coffees in NYC
I love iced coffee any time of the year. It’ll be the dead cold of winter and I will still love that first freezing cold sip of coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I love hot coffee too, but there’s just something about iced coffee that I love and adore. To me coffee is one of the finest (edible) pleasures on earth (along with oysters, tea, and scotch).
I like coffee because it gives me the illusion that I might be awake.

Living in an epicurean center of the world, I of course have to share my top places for food and drinks, so here it is, my definitive list of my favorite iced coffees.
1.
New Orleans Iced Coffee at Blue Bottle
If you haven’t had this lovely cup of coffee, you haven’t truly enjoyed ice coffee. Cold brewed for 12 hours with chicory and a bit of cane sugar, and served over ice with a healthy pour of a milk of your choice (I usually opt for soy).
Locations: Multiple (my favorites include Chelsea, Williamsburg, Smorgasburg, and the High Line)
2.
Cafe Grumpy
Although the Greenpoint, Brooklyn outpost holds the most fame for being featured in Girls, the Chelsea location is my location of choice (and of course, due to proximity of my home). They roast their own beans and have a nice selection from around the world.
Locations: Multiple (Chelsea)
3.
La Colombe
For those of you familiar with La Colombe, you’ll know that they don’t have a menu to order from. Of course, they have the typical drinks you’d find at a micro-roaster coffee shop – but their iced coffee is definitely delicious after shopping in SoHo.
Locations: Multiple (NoHo)
4.
Maison Kayser
For a solid cup of iced coffee, Maison Kayser is my local spot. Around the corner from my apartment and on the way to work, it’s easy to stop in and get a large cup of this bold and strong iced coffee.
Locations: Multiple (Flatiron)
5.
Telegraphe Cafe
My local cafe next to the office also happens to have some of the most delicious food and drinks. I often pop in for breakfast or lunch to grab something to go. Owned by the adorable husband and wife duo – Bruno and Annie – it’s a friendly local place to pop in and get a large iced coffee (cold brew too!) to go.
Location: 107 W. 18th Street (between 6th and 7th Ave, close to 6th Ave)
I’m sure there are plenty more favorites, what are yours?
